Tour Description

Explore the wonders of Green Island, a little piece of paradise in the midst of Australia’s sacred Great Barrier Reef. Whatever you like to do, this trip offers a variety of experiences, including a glass bottom boat tour, a self-guided excursion around the island and the opportunity to partake in scuba diving activities just off the coast.

o Explore the unique colours & fish of reef on the glass bottom boat tour

o Get involved by snorkelling or taking a dive

o Relax on the inviting white coral sand beach

o Enjoy many exclusive inclusions such as the use of the island swimming pool

o A self-guided eco island walk to discover some of the island's unique rainforest flora

Situated 27km off the coast of Cairns, Queensland, Green Island is a coral cay which forms part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park World Heritage Area. As such, the island is teeming with colourful wildlife, both terrestrial and aquatic; alluring and abundant fauna and stunning vistas. The Green Island Discovery tour, run by a accredited tour company, enables you to discover this wonderful environment and its bountiful attractions for yourself.

The modern, fast catamarans depart Cairns twice a day, at 8.30am and 10.30am, and, with boats returning at either 3.20pm or 5.20pm, the tour offers visitors a full day’s blank canvas, with a number of options to choose from to fill it.

For the spirited of heart, up to seven hours can be spent ticking activities off bucket lists, with reef snorkelling and scuba diving among the various aquatic adventures on offer. If you’d rather keep your feet dry, get yourself below deck on the glass bottom boat tour (included in the cost), and sneak a peek at clown fish and sea turtles in their natural coral habitat.

A self-guided eco island walk gives tourists the opportunity to walk among indigenous species of geckos, seabirds and butterflies, but if that doesn’t sound exciting enough for you, you could bypass earth and water all together, paying extra to fly through the air aboard a helicopter or while attached to a parasail. There’s also daily crocodile shows at Marineland Melanesia Crocodile Habitat. Snap up a ticket before they’re gone!

Those in need of relaxation can take a dip in the island swimming pool, located in a stunning rainforest setting, or laze around on the dazzling white sands of the island’s coral beach. When you’ve had your fill of paradise (for the time being, of course), venture inland and grab a bite to eat from one of Green Island’s various eating establishments, whether you'd prefer to dine in style at the Emerald Restaurant, or kick back and relax at the pool bar.
